Staying Healthy on Tour.
A guide for photographers.

We want you to have an incredible experience on tour capturing stunning images—without being sidelined by illness. With that in mind, here are some key steps to help you stay healthy during your chosen tour in South and Southeast Asia.

Strengthen Your Gut Before Travel

You might consider taking a probiotic supplement at least two weeks before your tour and continuing throughout your trip. Probiotics help build gut resilience and may reduce the risk of digestive issues. We recommend that you consult your doctor on this issue as with any other medical questions or concerns.

Safe Eating and Drinking Practices

We recommend you drink only bottled or filtered water. You should generally avoid tap water, ice, and unsealed beverages, although the ice in most of the hotels that we use should be fine. If in doubt, please check with Nathan. You should stick to freshly cooked, hot meals and avoid raw salads, unpeeled fruits, and undercooked meat or seafood. If you choose to try street food, make sure it is cooked thoroughly and served hot.

Hand Hygiene

We advise you to wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol. You should also generally aoid touching your face especially after handling money or public surfaces.

Medication and First Aid

We suggest that you bring a basic travel medical kit, including anti-diarrheal medication (e.g. Imodium), rehydration salts, and any personal prescriptions. You might also consider carrying activated charcoal or bismuth subsalicylate (e.g. Pepto-Bismol) to help prevent or manage mild stomach issues. Ciprofloxacin is also indicated for some types of bacterial food poisoning.

Rest and Hydration

Long travel days and different climates can take their toll, especially if we are at a significant altitude above sea level (in Ladakh or Mustang for example). You should stay hydrated, take a rest when needed, and pace yourself throughout the tour.

Know When to Seek Help

If you experience severe dehydration, prolonged vomiting, or a high fever, seek medical attention immediately. We will of course assist in arranging medical care if necessary.

By following these precautions, you’ll be better prepared to focus on your photography and enjoy a smooth travel experience. We look forward to seeing you on your chosen tour!
